WHAT YOU BUILT

I wonder where you are, I wonder who you see

I wonder what you wonder, if you wonder about me

Some days I have loved you, and some days I forgot

But I haven't heard a word about the things that you have thought

Once you were my saviour when I might crash and burn

But then you wouldn't let yourself take my help in return

So I went off to find the world and you stayed home to build

Now your walls are up so high, I wonder 'bout you still

Brick by brick, windows and doors

There's a fire in the hearth, there's a dog on the floor

But time rots the roof, and hate stains the glass

No one's left at home and nothing's made to last

Pride pulled the blinds shut and blame fuels the guilt

All alone and surrounded by exactly what you built

All that was is gone, all the wine is spilt

All that's left is walls, as testament to what you built
